Solar Pile Drilling Rigs for Rock Where Pile Drivers Stop
When a pile driver meets rock or gravel, drill the hole first and set the pile after. WPYX solar rigs drill Ø110–350 mm holes to 10 m with a DTH hammer in rock or an auger in soil.

Why it works on site
Hammer or auger
Run a DTH hammer and bit in rock, or switch to an auger rod and bit in soil, on the same rig.
Made for slopes
WPYX420TF and 430TF climb 35° slopes for hillside solar plants.
Fast between holes
Short pile holes mean frequent moves; tracks travel at up to 3 km/h with ±10° track oscillation.
Integrated option
WPYX454G carries its own 18 bar, 27 m³/min compressor and rod changer for utility-scale projects.

Why drill instead of driving the piles?
Pile drivers stop at rock, boulders and dense gravel, and piles bend or stop short. Drilling the hole first lets the pile reach design depth in any ground.
What hole sizes and depths?
Ø110–350 mm to an economic depth of 10 m on the separated rigs, and Ø152–250 mm to 20 m on the integrated WPYX454G.
DTH hammer or auger?
Use a DTH hammer and bit in rock and cemented gravel, and an auger in soil and soft ground. Many sites use both as the ground changes.
Which compressor does a solar rig need?
WPYX420TF pairs with WPCY310-24/22-26/16, WPYX420F with WPCY325-24/22-26/18K or WPCY360-31/25-33/18K, and WPYX430TF and 430GF with WPCY360-31/25-33/18K or WPCY550-35/34-38/25K.
Can the rig work on steep hillsides?
Yes. WPYX420TF and 430TF climb 35° slopes, and the tracks oscillate ±10° to stay planted on uneven ground.
